Job Title: Monitoring Manager

Working For: The Electoral Commission

Location: London

Salary: £49,151(London), £46,381(Outside London)

Length of Contract: Permanent

Job Details

The Electoral Commission is the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK. We work to promote public confidence in the democratic process and ensure its integrity.

We are responsible for ensuring that political parties and campaigners in the UK comply with the laws in place to ensure transparency and free and fair elections.

About the role
We are recruiting for a new Monitoring Manager to lead our Monitoring Team. This small team has a number of differing but equally important roles supporting and enhancing the work of other teams in the Regulation directorate.

It is responsible for:
• monitoring campaigning and other activity by political parties and campaigners where it relates to the political finance regime, particularly around major electoral events when the team is also expanded
• ensuring that our internal processes are effective so that our regulatory work is of high quality and conducted consistently
• our liaison work with the police, in dealing with areas where our work and theirs overlaps.
The Monitoring Manager therefore plays a key part in the Commission’s regulatory role.

The role is varied and interesting, and can involve dealing with politically sensitive matters. You will join a supportive and committed management team.

About you

We are looking for a leader who understands UK politics, and ideally with some knowledge of the political finance regime. You do not need experience in all three areas of the team’s work but you will have some knowledge and/or experience in some of them, and the ability to learn quickly.

You will have experience of leading a team or be able to demonstrate the skills required. You will have excellent judgement and organisational skills, with a proven track record of delivering results against challenging timeframes and competing demands.

You will have excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills, and be able to lead and motivate a small team carrying out a busy and varied programme of work to a high standard.

Closing Date: 30 October 2022

Interview/Start Dates
