Job Title: Policy Analyst- Renewable Power & Storage

Salary: £25,000-£27,000

Job Details

This policy role will involve working closely with civil servants, regulators, parliamentarians, our members, and wider stakeholders on key policy initiatives that impact the sector. The focus of the role will be on policy objectives to influence and inform decision-makers based in Westminster but with an eye on developments in local, combined, and devolved authorities.

The position provides an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to work on policy and industry developments as the UK seeks to meet its Net Zero target for Greenhouse Gas emissions by 2050. There’s never been a more exciting time to join our sector.

The successful candidate will be detail oriented, personable, and able to be an external ambassador for the REA’s work in decarbonising the power sector. There is a career progression pathway at the REA and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on new skills and experience while becoming an expert in valuable policy areas.

Skills required:

Qualifications and Experience
• Educated to degree level
• Evidence of having worked in a policy environment
• Evidence of interest in renewables/climate change

• Knowledge of relevant technologies and policies impacting these useful but not essential
• Good awareness of parliamentary and political process
• A good understanding of energy and environment policy
• Some experience of renewable heating and transport fuels and gases advantageous

Skills and Ability
• Analytical
• Articulate with excellent writing skills
• Evidence of desk-based research skills
• Interest in sustainability and climate change,
• Knowledge of renewable energy and Circular Economy principals an advantage

Personal Characteristics
Enthusiastic with good organisational skills, determination and stamina; a flexible, team player with personal integrity and confidence, and the ability to build relationships with civil servants, regulators and wider stakeholders.
