Job Details

Jane Hunt MP is looking to recruit a Caseworker to provide high quality support as part of her constituency team. The postholder will provide support to the Member as part of their constituency duties, with a particular focus on listening, empathy and understanding of constituent’s issues, drafting correspondence and responding to enquiries.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. There will be some complex casework, and support of other team members. Attention to detail is required along with a confidential and sensitive approach. While previous experience is helpful, it is not essential. Full training provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Deal with daily enquiries from constituents by email , letter, telephone or in person, taking the appropriate action to resolve, document or escalate their concerns or enquiries.

• Manage own caseload and progress of casework, ensuring all cases are properly logged, updated with any actions taken, and outstanding enquiries are followed up.

• Assist with work of other colleagues if and when required and communicate appropriately with contacts.

• Analyse, evaluate, and interpret data. Ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues.

• Undertake research.

• Attend surgeries and other meetings to assist the Member in dealing with constituent enquiries.

• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work occasionally, including into the Westminster office.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation as appropriate to casework.

Personal Specification

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident user of IT including Microsoft Office (Min: Word, Outlook).

• Excellent time management and organisational skills, including the ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet tight deadlines.

• Common sense, sound judgement and analytical approach.

• Ability to deal with enquiries in a confidential, empathetic and sensitive manner.

• Can work effectively in a small team.

• Experience working in a customer facing role. Casework experience in an MP’s office is desirable but not essential.
