The role includes: assisting with press and media bids, engaging with the press and producing press releases, drafting MP related literature and articles to be considered for local and national outlets, managing the website and social media channels, assisting with newsletters and surveys, generating content (including producing graphics and editing videos), organising events to interact with constituents, and dealing with incoming constituent queries as a "front of house" – so strong interpersonal skills are a must.
Previous experience in politics is not essential, although experience of event organisation, project management or similar would be helpful, and the ability to learn on the job.
• Establish, monitor and update a social media and online presence in the constituency and with regard to the MP’s Parliamentary work. Design and develop engaging, targeted content and messages across a range of channels
• Monitor media coverage and report relevant trends to the MP, liaise with media, prepare press releases as required (on constituency, non-party-political matters). Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other staff members.
• Assist with arrangements for events; this may include: venue research and bookings; compiling and managing guest-lists; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support as required;

• Sympathetic to the values and aims of the Conservative Party.
• Full, clean driving licence, and access to own vehicle
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
Interviews will be begin in early June with the appointment date to be mutually agreed.
