Job Title: Interim Communications, Public Affairs and Policy Manager

The Magistrates Association is recruiting an interim Communications, Public Affairs and Policy Manager to play a central role in the delivery of our ambitious programme of communications and policy work.
The Magistrates Association is a national charity with a mission to provide a voice for magistrates, support our members in administering the law and educate people on the role of the magistracy in England and Wales. Our communications and policy work engages key stakeholders from across the justice system and charitable sector, covering a wide range of issues such as the provision of legal advice, the digitisation of courts, BAME disproportionality in the criminal justice system, and diversity within the judiciary.
The Magistrates Association is seeking a dynamic professional to oversee the MA’s communications, policy and public affairs work and ensure that it has an impact with policy-makers, parliamentarians and the media. At a pivotal time for the MA and the magistracy, this role will ensure that our policy work has impact, build our profile with stakeholders, and promote strong, consistent messages across all of our communications channels.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in a communications, policy or public affairs role and a track record of delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a complex and demanding workload, they will have the knowledge, skills and experience to ensure that the MA is high-profile, influential and delivering real change on behalf of our members.
