Job Title: Executive Officer to the Speaker
Working For: London Borough of Hackney
Salary: £21.07 per hour
Hackney is London’s most diverse, dynamic borough. Reaching from the Square Mile to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in technology, media, fashion and other creative industries. Hackney has more green spaces than any other inner London borough; some of the capital’s finest schools; first class transport connections; excellent public services; and thriving arts, cultural and retail sectors. We seek people with ambition, creativity and commitment to ensure our economic growth provides benefits for everyone and creates opportunities to transform the lives of residents.
The Council plays an important part in community leadership and in turn the Speaker of Hackney as First Citizen acts as an ambassador or envoy for the borough. The Speaker helps promote community projects and events, encourages citizenship and participation in the life of the borough, fund raises for local charities and acts as a focal point for community celebrations and civic pride.
As Speaker’s Officer, you will be responsible for delivering a seamless and high quality support service to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Hackney. This is a wide ranging and challenging role responsible for managing the Speaker’s diary and providing executive support, organising key civic events such as the Council’s AGM, Remembrance Sunday and Holocaust Memorial Day, and managing the Speaker’s Chauffeur and Attendant. The post is to provide temporary cover for four months.
You will need to be a highly motivated, proactive individual with strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work with members and officers across all parts of the organisation. Experience of providing executive support and managing events is desirable. You must have experience in independently carrying out duties effectively.
At Hackney, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is stimulating, fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high profile organisation. If you share our values and are ready to be part of our exciting journey please apply now!
