Job Title: Group Manager, International Team, Regulatory Strategy
Working For: Information Commissioner's Office
Salary: £45,697 per annum
In this role in the International Engagement Department you will be at the heart of the team, developing and delivering the ICO’s International Strategy. You will lead on and oversee key pieces of work that develop the ICO’s role as a globally respected international regulator at the forefront of shaping the landscape in the digital world.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders in the UK and overseas is key. You will lead on ensuring that ICO’s interests are promoted and represented in the most important international fora (including adapting and refreshing the ICO’s role in EU structures depending on political developments) and acting as the main channel of communication for exchanges of knowledge and cooperation globally. This involves providing policy expertise on country specific issues and cross-border international relationships (such as law enforcement and technological and data ethics issues).
The focus of the work therefore is not only on leading a team but also taking responsibility for our engagement with important and senior level stakeholders nationally and globally, developing the ICO’s policy positions, producing influential guidance and undertaking projects aimed at developing our information rights laws further. You will deal with some of the most high profile issues of the day from regulatory cooperation and compliance matters of strategic importance to major public policy initiatives and anticipating future developments affecting the international regulatory landscape.
The role requires excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills. We are looking for someone who can prioritise competing issues and tasks within a wide portfolio, often with demanding deadlines, both for themselves and the wider team they are leading. Whilst knowledge of information rights laws and international relations in a wider context would be desirable qualities, they are not essential and we would also welcome applications from those who can demonstrate experience of applying similarly complex legislation and the ability to adapt quickly

The successful candidate will be required to travel regularly within the UK and will also be required to undertake some international travel.
