About the role:

The British Chambers of Commerce seeks to recruit a Campaigns and Policy Officer for an initial three month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for someone at the start of their career who is interested in developing and delivering their skills at one of Britain’s largest and most respected business organisations.

You will be assisting the Policy and Public Affairs team in their campaign work, influencing policy on behalf of British businesses at the highest levels and supporting firms across the country through the uncertainty of Brexit.

The BCC is a lead commentator and influencer on numerous key business issues and the role will work closely with the wider BCC policy, research and media team.

Role specification:

• Oversee the delivery of BCC campaign work and outputs to the Network
• Collate and organise input from the Chamber Network and their members relating to our ongoing campaign work
• Write and edit policy briefings and reports for the team on a range of issues, in particular campaign work relating to Brexit
• Manage and lead the creation of campaign assets and materials, working with other members of the team and Chamber Network
• Support policy and campaigns team in responding to policies and enquiries from businesses, overseeing and reporting evaluation of the campaign
• Brief the team on key issues relating to the campaign and wider public policy issues. Assist the team in keeping the BCC’s website up to date with the most relevant and recent information relating to policy campaigns and information for businesses
Person specification:
• At least one years’ experience in a campaigning environment
• Excellent writing and speaking skills
• Information gathering and interpreting large amount of information and distilling it into clear and concise language
• Confident and a team player
• Strong knowledge of key business issues
• Campaign experience
• Fast learner and the ability to multi task and prioritise is crucial
• Confident IT user and ability to learn new programmes and processes quickly
• CMS experience desirable
