Job Details
Sarah Jones MP is seeking an exceptional individual to help set up and manage her new constituency office.
The ideal candidate will have campaign management and office management experience and prior experience working for an MP would be helpful. Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) are essential. A genuine commitment to the constituency and willingness to invest time working in the constituency office as well as in-depth knowledge of the national political environment are important.
Applicants will need to work as part of a close knit team, and willing to occasionally work extra hours, attend surgeries or travel to meetings in the constituency.
Responsibilities will include:
Overseeing campaigning and constituency activity
Ensuring the team remains focussed, paying particular attention to managing workloads
Striving to deliver the best possible working environment for staff
Co-ordination of projects
Oversight of casework and expenses systems
Management of budgets
Advising on policy issues, including analysing, evaluating and interpreting data
Liaison with the Council, with groups and stakeholders at Westminster, with stakeholders across the constituency and general public on the MP’s behalf
Overall management of the MP’s diary
Necessary skills
The ability to run effective campaigns
The ability to run an office
A good knowledge of the issues important to Croydon Central
A good overall understanding of current political issues
Experience of the political environment and sympathy with the Labour Party’s aims and principles
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
Excellent research, analytical, evaluation and interpretation skills
Numerical ability and experience with budget management
Ability to produce reports thoroughly and succinctlyExcellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, expenses systems and internet research

Interviews will be in the week commencing 26 June and start dates are to be decided and are negotiable. Interviews will be held at Westminster.
