Job Title: Research Intern
Working For: Localis
Salary: London living wage - £9.75 per hour
Localis is an independent think tank whose work promotes neo-localist ideas through research, events and commentary, covering a range of local and national domestic policy issues. Neo-localism is about giving places and people more control over the effects of globalisation. It is concerned by economic prosperity, but also enhancing other aspects of people’s lives such as family and culture. It is not anti-globalisation, but wants to bend the mainstream of social and economic policy so that place is put at the centre of political thinking.
We are looking for a Research Intern to support the delivery of our fast-growing research and policy programme. As a leading voice in the debate around place, economy and public services this is an exciting opportunity to join a growing think tank influencing important policy areas.
The role will be varied and with the breadth in experience that working for a small organisation entails. General tasks will include providing research support to lead researchers (on topics including industrial strategy, housing, skills and many more) and assistance on events and communications.
The Research Intern will join us for three months. At the end of the internship, we will review performance and the Localis work programme and, where possible, extend the internship or offer a permanent position.
- Good quantitative research skills
- Strong interest in political and public policy issues
- Attention to detail and organised
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Willing and ready to show initiative
